A French Language Studio
Designed for for globally minded adults who want more than “classes.” They want the city: its tone, its timing, its unspoken rules.
The kind of French that helps you move through Paris with ease — ordering, asking, connecting, disagreeing politely — and still looking composed. And yes — you’ll pick up a little je ne sais quoi along the way.
One Signature, One Voice
Unlike most language programs, there’s no instructor roulette here: every session is taught by me, Mathieu — the founder.
My path sits at the intersection of art and engineering, shaped by years working internationally across institutional settings and corporate roles. The sessions are structured, efficient, and might be surprisingly fun — with just enough Parisian mischief to keep things interesting.
French With A View
Each summer, I host Signature Courses in small groups, inside curated Parisian apartments chosen with a local curator.
I use selected materials, then bring Paris into the room through stories, fun facts, history, neighborhoods, and the social codes that make conversations feel effortless.

"Incredible experience! Not only has my level of French improved significantly thanks to Mathieu’s clear explanations and effective teaching methods, but I've also genuinely enjoyed every class. His passion for the French language and culture is contagious."
French, With Care
I teach French with the conviction that language deserves more than efficiency alone. It calls for precision, sensitivity, discernment, and a genuine attention to the person in front of me.
My approach has been shaped not only by years of teaching, but also by a broader background in art history, design, communication and institutional environments, a combination that has given me a deep appreciation for nuance, structure, rhythm and style.
French, With Perspective
Over the past fifteen years, I have taught French in France and abroad, working with learners from a wide range of cultural and professional backgrounds, including in Brazil, Ecuador, Cameroon and Indonesia.
Along the way, I have collaborated with universities, business schools, public institutions and international organisations such as Panthéon-Sorbonne University, HEC Paris, Alliance Française, Paris City Hall, the Paris Chamber of Commerce, the World Bank and the Global Partnership for Education.
French, With Intention
Before creating The French Pool, I followed a path shaped by artistic sensibility, pedagogy and communication. With a background in French teaching, design and corporate environments, I developed an approach grounded in nuance, clarity and attention.
More than teaching French, I aim to help learners build a confident, subtle and deeply personal relationship with the language. That is the spirit behind The French Pool.
Trusted by international institutions and global teams.

Tasty French
Do you love the beautiful mouldings that adorn the facades of Parisian buildings? Or the art nouveau arabesques of plants that pop up on street corners to indicate a metro station? Then you already love the French language: its whimsical, rich vocabulary, casual yet voluptuous sounds and adventurous grammar. Do you dare?
Chill French
Don't expect a swimming pool. The French Pool is just a metaphor. Just in case, the Seine is just a few minutes' walk away.
Sweet French
At The French Pool, we strongly believe that the éclair au chocolat —originally called pain à la duchesse) is a simple yet delicate equation, just like learning French.
That’s the reason why each session comes with free croissants. Sometimes even chocolate éclairs. Or other surprises.
